International Maritime Organization (IMO) Photography Competition 2024

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is proud to launch its annual photography competition, coinciding with Black History Month in October. This year’s theme, ‘Diversity at Sea,’ invites photographers to showcase the vibrant multiculturalism that exists within the maritime industry. Submit your captivating images that highlight the diversity of people, cultures, and experiences in the maritime sector, and help celebrate the rich tapestry of our global community.

IMO invites photo submissions from all skill levels showcasing unique perspectives on maritime life. Whether capturing diverse crews, the rich cultural mosaic of port cities, or the daily experiences of maritime professionals worldwide, they want your interpretation of ‘Diversity at Sea’.

This is your chance to celebrate and showcase the resilience, expertise, and cultural heritage that shape the oceans and the people who navigate them. Submit your photos and let your lens tell the story of the maritime world’s diversity!

Prizes

• First place: GoPro Hero 12 Creator Edition
• Second place: GoPro 12 Hero Black
• Third place: GoPro 11 Black Mini

Winning entries, along with a selection of highly commended submissions, will be displayed online and in-person in physical displays at the IMO Headquarters. The winners will be announced during IMO’s Black History Month panel event on 11 October 2024.

Eligibility

• Open to photographers of all skill levels from around the world.
• Entries should showcase unique perspectives on maritime life.

How to Apply

• Take a photo that represents the theme “Diversity at Sea”.
• Each participant may submit up to three high-quality photos.
• Email high-quality entries to the racial equity and equality group (ree@imo.org) with the subject: Black History Month 2024 – Photo Competition.
• Include in emailed entries the submitter name, occupation, location of photo, caption, and attach your photo.
